Autoprop Efficiency
Excellence in design and Excellence in performance
The Autoprop offers the optimal pitch setting in the different sailing configurations and has a high efficiency compared to other sailing propellers available. It is ideal for cruising sailboats.
The trials (shown below) published in the April 2009 edition of “Voiles Magazine” on page 83, show very conclusive results and may well surprise skippers not using the Autoprop.
The trials were conducted on a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 34.2 :
| Propeller | 1500 RPM | 2200 RPM | Consumption @ 6Kts |
| Autoprop | 5.10 kts | 6.65 kts | 1.40 ltr/per hour |
| Gori / OD | 4.60 kts | 6.65 kts | 1.57 ltr/per hour |
| Kiwi Prop | 4.20 kts | 5.75 kts | 2.03 ltr/per hour |
| J Prop | 3.75 kts | 5.35 kts | 2.0 ltr/per hour |
| Maxprop | 3.85 kts | 5.50 kts | 2.2 ltr/per hour |
At a time when environmental issues are of concern to us all, efficiency must be closely watched. The Autoprop achieves cruising speed at low engine rpm, thus improving comfort, increasing cruising range under power, more miles per gallon.
Autoprop is also unique for motorsailing when seeking some additional speed. The blades pitch up to the driving force of the sails and increase propeller thrust, unlike a fixed pitch propeller which will hold you back.
Autoprop comes fully assembled, ready to be installed simply by removing the old propeller and screwing on the nut provided.
